The Western Macedonia Model Forest is a pioneering, collaborative initiative dedicated to promoting sustainable development in the Region of Western Macedonia, where forests play a central role. As a voluntary partnership of public and private stakeholders, the WMMF embodies a shared vision: to foster a resilient, sustainably managed landscape that balances ecological health with socio-economic well-being.

Our Mission: To serve as a governance platform that unites diverse voices – local communities, businesses, NGOs, and public bodies—in the sustainable management of forest resources, while respecting cultural heritage and enhancing environmental resilience.

Our Vision: A future where Western Macedonia is a model of sustainable regional development, recognized for its thriving forests, vibrant rural communities, and innovative green economy.

Key Objectives (2023–2027):
Promote sustainable forest management to mitigate climate change and reduce fire risk.
Enhance biodiversity and restore ecosystems, including animal habitats and watersheds.
Support local economic opportunities through non-wood forest products, agritourism, and certified local goods.

Strengthen environmental education and community engagement.Foster innovation, networking, and access to funding for green projects. Together, we are building a legacy of stewardship—for nature, for people, and for generations to come
